Carla is left with egg on
her face when the truth
comes out in a very public way

T

here’s hell to pay for Carla
this week, after Michelle
stumbles upon the truth about
her best mate’s latest fella –
it’s her estranged son Ali!
Michelle is shattered when she realises
Carla is having it away with her son, who
recently returned to the cobbles. Although
Carla tries to explain herself, her pal is
having none of it – so could Carla’s lust
end up destroying her closest friendship?
“Michelle and Carla are like sisters, so
this couldn’t be any worse!” groans Alison
King, who plays the conflicted cougar.
“From Carla’s point of view, Ali is a grownup man now – he’s fit, she’s a red-blooded
girl, so she gave in while it was on offer!
She tried to pull back after the repercussions
of her actions sank in and she considered
the fact that Michelle could find out and
be hurt, but Carla really likes Ali.”

“Michelle doesn’t
give Carla a chance
– that’s them done”
Although Michelle’s fiancé Robert had
an inkling of what was going on, Michelle
dismissed his suggestion that Ali fancied
Carla as nonsense. However, when Michelle
decides to host a big Connor family dinner
and invites them both, it’s the catalyst for
calamity. With the truth staring her in the
face, livid Michelle sends everyone home
except Carla, and demands answers. It’s
a horrible moment for both women…
“Michelle is shocked and hurt,” sighs
Alison. “She wants to know what’s going
on between them, and whether it’s gone
further. She doesn’t give Carla much
chance to explain – though there’s not
a lot Carla can say apart from sorry!
In Michelle’s mind, that’s them done
because Carla has hurt her so much.”
Carla has no comeback as she
realises that this could be fatal for their
relationship. And worse still, loved-up
Ali is pushing for more with Carla.

“Ali wants to take their relationship
further, but all this makes Carla pull
back,” Alison tells us. “There isn’t
actually anything going on – they only
slept together that one time, and her
relationship with Michelle is more
important to her than a relationship
with him.”
Sadly, this isn’t the
only secret being kept
by Michelle’s loved

about Michelle’s fiancé

and when she sees

by a couple of cosy scenes between

something Alison herself has noted…

approaching, the unhappy bride-to-be
has some decisions to make.
“Michelle tells Carla that she’s not

“Hopefully Carla will put out her bottom

WILL THE TROUBLED TEENS
ESCAPE PRISON?

T

errified Liv faces the
consequences of
spiking Lisa’s drink
with ketamine this
week, as she and her coconspirator Gabby stand trial.
Despite attempts by the
Dingles – including Lisa – to
stop the prosecution going
ahead, the CPS won’t let the
matter drop, and the girls must
appear in court. Having both
admitted their part in the nearfatal incident, they know that
there will be punishment for
the crime, and both families
are frightened that they’ll be
sent down. Worse still, at the
last minute, Liv’s solicitor is
replaced and everything

changes – including Lisa’s
plan to speak up for her.
“Lisa wanted to explain to
the court that Liv’s a good girl,
really,” explains Jane Cox, who
plays the Dingle matriarch.
“She wanted this lass to learn
the lesson that she could have
killed someone, but perhaps
going to court is too far.”
Sadly for the Dingles, when
Liv’s new brief arrives, he
immediately bans Lisa from
giving a witness statement
– even if it is to defend his

client. Meanwhile, Aaron
worries as he spots that the
lawyer isn’t up to speed on
the details of his sister’s case
– and as the court convenes,
it’s tense for all concerned.
“Aaron had agreed to Lisa
helping out, but the lawyer
says she shouldn’t,” shares
Jane. “Lisa feels so sorry for
Liv now – she thinks that she’s
a sad girl and was probably
distracted by Gabby.”

instigated it all, but she gives

make emotional speeches
to convince the judge to be
lenient with the defendants.
However, things don’t go so
well for Liv – she’s traumatised,
and can’t find her voice when
it’s time for her to speak up.
The outcome of the trial is
being kept secret, though Jane
says it was great to work with
co-star Isobel Steele – who
plays Liv – on these scenes.
“Isobel is a wonderful actor
and a professional person,”
she enthuses. “She pulls on
your heart strings – and it’s hard
not to cry when she’s crying!”

MICHELLE FINDS HERSELF IN
ANOTHER TEEN SEX SCANDAL…

T

here’s big trouble for
Michelle this week –
when Mel accuses
her of trying to
seduce her son Hunter!
Accusations fly after the
shamed teacher arrives to
begin her tutoring gig with the
bad boy, only to discover him
half-dressed and in the midst
of a passionate encounter
with Louise. Although Michelle
reluctantly agrees to keep
what she’s seen a secret –
Louise having begged her
to stay shtum – that doesn’t
stop everything kicking off
as twisted Hunter insists she
attempted to kiss him!
“Being accused of molesting
another student is Michelle’s
worst nightmare,” sighs our
Walford snitch. “Her affair

with schoolboy Preston
cost Michelle everything,
including her marriage and her
career. It’s taken a long time
for her to rebuild her life and
regain the trust of those
around her. By telling
these lies, Hunter could
destroy all of that.”
It’s deeply
embarrassing for
Michelle when
she catches
Hunter and
Louise in a
compromising
position. It also
puts her in a moral
quandary, as her
best friend Sharon is
Louise’s stepmum.

Michelle elects to distance
herself from the situation,
and explains to Mel that she
can’t tutor her son.
However, even as she
neglects to give Mel all the
facts, Hunter sees a way to
create more trouble between

his family and the Mitchells.
Michelle is knocked for six after
Mel confronts her in a rage and
accuses her of trying to kiss
the twisted teenager. It doesn’t
matter how much Michelle
protests, Mel believes Hunter

as actress Jenna

pastures new. So why
didn’t this classic character
comeback work?
It certainly wasn’t the
fault of Jenna, a superb
actress who did her best
to breathe new life into one
of EastEnders’ most iconic
characters. It’s not really
due to the decision to recast
Michelle, after original
star Susan Tully refused
o ers to return
the role that made he

oblem was the storie

“Sharon is Michelle’s
truest friend, but when she
hears Hunter’s story, she’s
inclined to believe him,”
says our snoop. “Michelle
has a history of doing this,
and her affair with Preston
outraged everyone, even
those who love her. Because
of what happened in the
past, Sharon can’t in all
conscience say she’s 100
per cent behind Michelle.
That’s utterly heartbreaking.”

With her reputation
on the line again, will
Michelle reveal the
truth about Hunter?
Meanwhile, Sharon’s
reaction has hit her
hard – so, backed
into a corner, will
the usually feisty
Michelle come

will this prove one

EASTENDERS
he Slaters have never been
ones to mince their words,
so it comes as no surprise
that ex-EastEnders actress Kacey
Ainsworth – who played Little Mo
– has been laying down the law
in support of her pals in Walford.
Upon discovering that the soap
isn’t in contention for a BAFTA TV
award this year, Kacey was quick
to point out on social media what
she thinks about the snub…
“No EastEnders on the BAFTA
nominations?” the star wrote on Twitter.
“In the past few months, EastEnders
has gone back to its roots, with truly
great characters, writers and actors,
and it shows. This round of nominations
was on the back of 2017. You wait for
this year – EastEnders will be back.”
Will Kacey be back as Little Mo
too, though? Walford returnee Jessie
Wallace, aka Kat, would love her screen
sister to join the rest of the Slaters
in the Square – and Kacey herself
has never ruled out the possibility.
“The door is always open,” she
said previously. “I miss doing it

something where you know everyone

Peri Lomax is finally

instalment of Hollyoaks
which covers everything that’s
been happening since she ran

Actress Ruby O’Donnell tells
us what to expect from this

star. “It runs from the moment

this episode, everything’s

Viewers have only been
afforded brief glimpses of Peri
in recent months, including
visits to her comatose aunt
Tegan, but this time – via
flashback – we’ll see what
happened to her before and
after those sporadic visits.
While it all starts comfortably
enough in a hotel, Peri’s
money quickly runs out and
she’s turned out on her ear.
One night in homeless

accommodation leads her to
begging – and Peri makes a
friend in Dean, who introduces
her to Harley (see box). That’s
when the story catches up with
recent events in the village,
and her family get involved.
“Obviously with all that’s
been on screen, people are

wondering what’s been going
on and why Peri is in the
state she’s in,” says Ruby.
“So throughout the episode,
everything will become clear.”

Kat’s kiddie
mystery!
AS SHE COOS OVER LITTLE
HARLEY, WHERE ARE HER
OWN BUNDLES OF JOY?

T

he questions
surrounding Kat
intensify this week,
as Stacey and Mo
conspire to find out what’s
really going on with her.
Ever since Kat returned to
Albert Square a few weeks
ago, the mysteries have
been mounting.
Where are Alfie
and their three
children? What
really happened
in Spain? And
why is Kat so
reluctant to talk
about any of it?
Things start to look even
more dubious when Kat
bumps into Masood’s Uncle
Arshad, who is walking with
baby Harley in the Square.
“Spotting little Harley brings
out Kat’s maternal instincts,”
our Walford mole tells us.
“He’s such a cutie that Kat
can’t help but stop and gawp
at him. She starts to fondly talk
about her own children, and
it’s perfectly clear how much
she’s missing them all.”
The exchange is spotted
by eagle-eyed Stacey, who
instantly becomes suspicious.
After all, why can’t Kat just
go and visit her kids if she’s
missing them so much?
“There’s not an awful lot that
gets past Stacey, and there’s

something about this whole
situation that doesn’t add
up,” reasons our snoop. “She
starts to cross-examine Kat,
who evasively fobs her off
– but that just makes Stacey
even more convinced that Kat
has something to hide, and
she’s determined to find out
what it is.”
With no one
else to turn to
for help, Stacey
is forced to
speak to Mo
about her
concerns.
“Although
Mo is preoccupied with her
own moneymaking schemes,
even she is forced to admit
there’s something
very odd about Kat’s
cagey behaviour,”
says our snitch.
“Stacey and Mo then
cook up a plan to try
to get Kat and her
kids back together.”
Stacey tries to get
in touch with Alfie,
to see if he can
shed any light on
the matter, but it
transpires that Kat

WHAT
HAPPENED
H
IN
Sadly, all the signs point
to the breakdown of
Kat and Alfie’s marriage.
When she returned
to Walford recently, Kat
reluctantly admitted
to Stacey that she and
Alfie were taking a break,
while stressing that it
was a wonder they hadn’t
killed each other after all
they’ve been through.
It wouldn’t be the first
time they’ve gone their
separate ways – so why
wouldn’t Kat just come
out and say that? Why
would it stop her having
contact with her kids?
And what happened to
all the money the Moons
won? Apparently it’s been
spent, but could it really
have been pumped into
one small Spanish bar?
Perhaps Hayley is the
key. When Kat came to
blows with her, Hayley
threatened to spill the
beans on what happened
in Spain – so it’s clear
there’s something Kat is
desperate to keep secret.
Another affair? Has she
done something with the
rest of the lottery cash?
Or could it be something
involving the children?
With Alfie rumoured to
be on his way home, Kat
may be forced to fess up
in the very near future…

to Kat – and this time she
demands some answers.
“Stacey wants to know why
Kat is ignoring Alfie, but of
course this just makes Kat
clam up even more,” sighs our
spy. “She quickly works out
that Stace has been trying to
contact Alfie behind her back,

and she flies off the handle.
It’s a classic Slater bust-up!
So what is Kat hiding?”
Later on, once the pair have
managed to calm down a bit,
they have a heart-to-heart.
Stacey’s mind is then put at
rest when she overhears Kat
making plans to see the three

children. But as Kat heads
off to meet the kids, and calls
Stacey to let her know that
she’s taking them to the
cinema, is everything as
it seems – or is it just anothe

Stacey off the scent?

As the Street reels from the
news that Phelan was behind

under fire from those who think

about her husband’s killing

snide comments at first, but
the situation takes a sinister

HUNTER HINT
Was the hint from Phil calling
Hunter “son” in EastEnders just
to wind Sharon up, or is there no
smoke without fire – meaning the
reason for Mel’s return is so her
son can get to know his real father?
I feel for the lad, though, because
the choice between two villains (the

is not great. But it could have been
worse if his daddy was Ian…

FURY FROM THE DEEP!
Eileen inally found out the truth in Corrie
– as murderous Phelan was claimed by
the waves. Or so it seemed! You lot had
your hearts in your mouths and your

Sue Cleaver and Connor
McIntyre, take a bow – that
was a brilliant performance
from both actors as Eileen
finally, finally found out
just what Pat Phelan had
done. I totally didn’t expect
Eileen to stamp on Phelan’s
hands like that and let him
drop to his death, though.
Loved the episode, and
the lighting effects were
superb at the lighthouse.
| Louise, Leicester

I loved that Corrie were
having a joke with us –
making Phelan die then

after, but it made me smile!
| Peter, London
Eileen might have thought
that was the end of her killer

ILLUSTRATION: ROB DAVIS

Congratulations to Hollyoaks for
their realistic portrayal of Cleo’s
bulimia. I’m glad Myra was the one
who finally rumbled her – Cleo is
going to need plenty of help, and
I can’t think of a better person.
| Cally, Ealing
Hollyoaks really knows how to
strike a chord with its viewers…

to put up with the awful
Phelan saga? Are we seriously
supposed to believe that he
survived that fall in a storm
and managed to get himself
to a guest house with that
leg injury? Sue Cleaver has
been brilliant, but let’s get
Eileen back home and see her
get her life back on track.
| Ann, Runcorn
Eileen has new problems
to deal with – see p22 for
what’s ailing her this week.
So Eileen was arrested for
Phelan’s crimes, adding to
a long list of wronged Street
women that includes Gail,
Fiz and Deirdre. They were
all done for the crimes of
their other halves.
| Clarry
But Eileen has been released
without charge. That’s a
new development (sort of).

“Vincent’s exit won’t

The end is nigh for Kim’s harassed husband

EASTENDERS | BBC1 MONDAY

how disappointed
we are that he’s
leaving the role of Vincent. “Thank you,

It’s hard for Vincentt, as you have to

to be a gangster, so h
he went straight for

↘ FROM PREVIOUS PAGE

The police give Vincent a deadline
to get the information on the gang
members – so one way or another,
time is running out…
Yes, it is. Vincent is working against the
clock anyway – he’s run out of money,
things are going bad, and he doesn’t
want his family to know. Kim thinks her
husband will be fine, as that’s just what
he does, but little does she know that he
could be putting them all in danger.

Was it sad for you knowing that
Vincent’s exit would spell the end
for his marriage to Kim?
It’s a horrible thought! But EastEnders is
very good at leaving the audience wanting
more – this machine has been going for
many years. The writers are exceptional
at what they do, so they understand the

audience are rooting for these characters.
However, no one can be happy in Walford
– otherwise it would be a boring show!
After Vincent meets with his police
contact and incriminates Aidan and
Phil over the New Year’s Day heist, Kim
begins to grow suspicious that her hubby
is up to something. He promises to tell
her everything, until a twist in the tale
forces him to drop a huge bombshell on
his stunned wife. How will Kim react? And
how will Vincent leave Walford? Will it
be in a black taxi – or a wooden box?

It’s a shame that Vincent has come
unstuck because of Aidan. We’d
have liked to have seen the gangster
in him come out ighting!

The nature of Vincent’s exit is
secret, but are you pleased with it?

What’s next for you then, Richard?

I really am. When I read the scripts,
I thought, ‘Okay, if this is what we’re
doing, I’m going to deliver it so that the
viewers at home are left going wow’.
I know that it sounds like a clichéd thing
to say, but Vincent’s exit is definitely
going to be a talking point for a while.
Once again, EastEnders doesn’t disappoint!
They leave you in a space where, as soon
as you hear the ‘doof doof’, you’ll be
on the phone saying, “Oh my God”!
It’ll be one of those moments.

I’ve got a film coming out towards the end
of the year, and some theatre has come up
which is also good – but really and truly,
my dream is to be a Hollywood actor like
Jamie Foxx or Will Smith. This probably
sounds a bit crazy, but I believe that I’m
meant to be doing what I do out there
on a grand scale. That’s the reason why
I work out, do my kung fu, my comedy
and acting. I want to have the all-round
package so I can go out there and do it all!

I would say, “C’mon, can I just hit
him a little bit?”. And they’d say, “No,
Richard. It’s not in the script!”. [laughs]

What was Tameka’s
(Empson, aka Kim)
reaction to you going?
Tameka and I have
the best relationship as
we’ve been friends for a long time, and
working together made us so close. We
were actually on set when I tried to tell
her, and I saw her well up and she said,
“I can’t do this now, we’ve got to do
the scene”. Afterwards, when I told her
properly, she came to my dressing room
and gave me a gift, and we both cried.

“Anyone will tell you that the way Tameka
and I would laugh and joke on set, it’s
a miracle we got any filming done!”

what’s really in store for her in Pakistan.
And actress Bhavna Limbachia, who plays
Rana, was shocked when she researched
her alter ego’s story, and discovered the
lengths that some families have gone to
in situations such as this…
“Parents do take extreme measures to
cover up anything they don’t agree with

not uncommon in the Asian community
when it comes to an offspring’s sexuality,”
she reveals. “Parents often don’t see

“In Rana’s case, she doesn’t question

adds Bhavna. “She’s caught

They’re disgusted and feel

Rana’s husband Zeedan is
furious that she got caught,
as it means the deal is off and he has no
funding for his Speed Daal business. It also
has to be explained to Alya, who is upset
to discover that she’s the only person who
knew nothing of the bizarre arrangement.
“Alya is the last one to find out,” sighs
Bhavna. “This is the ultimate betrayal –
Rana knows there’s no going back.”

As the repercussions of this incident are

her to visit her dying aunt in Pakistan. She

have a plan to kidnap her once there.
“Rana will do anything to win back her

hile Brenda is

she knows about his affair this
week, he’s ploughing on with
their wedding plans regardless.
But when he fears that Brenda’s
strange behaviour is down to
her cancer returning, will a row
between Laurel and Brenda force
out the truth? It’ll come as a
shock if so, admits Bob’s real-life
alter ego Tony Audenshaw…

Laurel and Bob have ended
it – but is Bob still committed
to marrying Brenda?
Absolutely! He’s serious about
it. As far as he’s concerned, the
affair with Laurel is in the past,
so it’s full steam ahead for the
wedding. He’s worried about
Brenda, though…

Has he inally noticed that
she’s not been herself ?
He’s not got a clue – Brenda’s
been hiding it well!

But then Heath tells him about
her ‘secret cupboard’, where she’s
stashed the stuff she bought with
Laurel’s bank card. All this random
stuff tumbles out of it – hot-water
bottles, bike helmets. That’s when
he thinks, ‘What’s going on?’!

He assumes it’s her cancer
coming back, doesn’t he?
She’s distracted and has headaches,
and he wonders if she’s stolen that
stuff – because she shoplifted when
she had the brain tumour. He puts
all these things together.

Then he sees Brenda and
Laurel having a row – is he
scared that the truth is out?
No! He just thinks Brenda is being
out of order – she’s given Laurel’s
son Arthur cash for a school trip.
He goes to Laurel to apologise, and
admits he thinks Brenda’s ill. That
conversation leads to something
else, but I can’t say what!

If Brenda

I

t’s been a tough 12 months for poor Hunter
since he lost his beloved girlfriend Neeta – but
things are about to get a whole lot tougher
for star Theo as he answers your questions…

“What was the best thing about
getting to ilm in Ibiza last year?”
I really enjoy the sun and I love getting
away whenever I can, so to go to Ibiza
and film didn’t feel like work at all!
Myself and Amrit [Maghera,
who played Neeta] had
quite heavy schedules, so
we didn’t really get much

It’s been a massive year for Hunter, so

it’s really hard to pick just one thin

I think she’s brilliant.

I laugh a lot – there’s
never a dull moment with
Malique around! It’s always
fun to be on set with him.
I think the crew sometimes
get a bit annoyed, though,
because we’re just so full of
energy! I wouldn’t say we’re naughty,
but we do have our moments where
we get a bit carried away…

“You were in Doctors for a while
before Hollyoaks [as Barney Turner
in 2016]. What was that like?”
It was brilliant! I originally went in for
a guest part, which was ju

I went back for five ep

That was just before I started
at Hollyoaks, so it gavee me a

“What’s it like
having Chelsee
Healey [Goldie] as
a screen mum?”

Neeta’s heart. How is working with
Haiesha Mistry, who plays her?”
Funnily enough, me and Haiesha knew
each other before Hollyoaks, because we
both trained at an acting school called
DNA Performance in Manchester. But
I didn’t find out she had the part until
I looked at the filming schedule and
saw her name on there! When I walked
in and saw her there it was a massive
surprise. But it was nice to get on set
with someone that I already knew.

Sam Frost – former star of reality
show The Bachelorette Australia,
in which a pool of men vie to marry
an eligible woman – for a chat about
her first major acting role…

Hey, Sam! What have your irst few

They’ve been amazing! The whole
crew is like one big family – they’ve
all been so supportive of me and made
me feel at home from day one.

You’ve kind of been thrown in at
the deep end following stints on
two big reality shows Down Under.
Yeah it’s been challenging, but equally
rewarding. The cast are a great support
network – we all give each other
advice on what’s working or not, or
how to approach different scenes.
We also have incredible acting coaches
who guide us. We’re always learning
and doing our best to evolve.

Who’s taken you under their

Ada Nicodemou [Leah] has been a
great mentor and friend. We had
most of my first scenes together,
and she really helped me through
the process – and she still does
today. I’m so lucky our characters
are such good friends, like we are!

What do Home and Away
viewers think of Jasmine?
Jasmine is a likeable character,
she’s not there to step on
anyone’s toes or be the villain.
She’s a typical Australian girl
in that she loves the beach
and the outdoors, but her
naivety and trust in people
can get her into some
sticky situations. I think
viewers are able to relate
to those qualities in her.

Can you give us

more confident in
herself. Who knows,
maybe there’ll be a little
romance for her too…

Kellie was born on

since she was 11 years old.
After some early stage

contemporaries.

She made her debut
as Linda Carter in
December 2013 –
introduced alongside

their bulldog Lady Di as the

after Phil sold the boozer to Mick.
Linda’s most memorable story so

falling pregnant shortly after.
Luckily, baby Ollie was eventually

after Gene’s birth, she admitted:
“It’s such a cliché, but it really is
