SHE THROWS OUT THE
VIC’S LANDLADY FOR
ABANDONING MICK AND
SIDING WITH STUART…

THIS
WEEK!

SHIRLEY

EVICTS
LINDA!
T

he Carter family falls
apart this week, as
Shirley snaps and
throws treacherous
Linda out on to the street!
The fractious situation has
been threatening to boil over
for the past couple of months,
ever since Linda announced
that she couldn’t continue to
ignore the mounting evidence
that her husband really did
shoot vile Stuart. While Shirley
has been staggered that Linda
could even dream about

4 lnsideSoap

giving up on Mick, she’s gone
over the edge completely now
that Linda has actually come
out in support of Stuart! What
on earth is she thinking?
“This is the man who cruelly
tortured Tina by tying her up in
the boot of a car back in 1994,”
our Walford insider reminds
us. “He’s also the person who
has bullied and intimidated
Linda on multiple occasions.
There are no shades of grey
here. Even if Mick was the
one responsible for shooting

Stuart, it really beggars belief
that Linda would have any
sympathy for this monster!”

CARTER CRISIS!

Is Linda set
to turn to the
dark side?

As the week begins, Tina,
Whitney and Halfway continue
their efforts to make Linda see
sense. They try to pressure
her into visiting Mick in prison,
and beg her to see through
Stuart’s manipulative lies.
However, Linda is adamant
that she has washed her
hands of Mick, and even

refuses to put her wedding
ring back on. The rest of the
family are utterly stunned,
unable to understand what
could be going through
Linda’s mind right now.
When Stuart himself
arrives at the Queen Vic
later, Tina is quick to give
him a verbal lashing. But
as the tense atmosphere
escalates, Linda tries to
calm things down – and tells
Stuart that he can stay!

“This situation is a surreal nightmare!”
gasps our snitch. “Linda is rolling out the
red carpet for the Carters’ arch-nemesis!
Whitney tries to stand up for Mick in front
of the other punters, but that’s not worth
much when even the geezer’s own wife
doesn’t believe that he’s innocent!”
Later, Stuart and Linda have a tender
conversation, and he even tries to convince
her that she could still have a future with
Mick. Will she be willing to take back her
husband if the man whom he apparently
shot can show forgiveness towards him?

SHIRLEY’S RAGE!
When Shirley makes a surprise return to
the Vic the following day, she’s appalled to
see what’s been going on in her absence.
And as soon as she spots Linda, she loses
her rag and lashes out at Stuart, who is
smugly smiling at the chaos he’s caused.
After speaking with Tina, Shirley assures
her they won’t let Mick go down without a
fight. She then contacts Phil, to see if he can
help persuade lawyer Ritchie to represent
Mick again. Yet given that Ritchie reckons
the weight of evidence against Mick is too
compelling, is the case a lost cause?
Returning to the Vic, Shirley grabs Linda’s
belongings and throws them over the bar,
telling her daughter-in-law that if she never
claps eyes on her again it will be too soon!

“A line has been drawn in the sand,
that’s for sure!” reckons our spy. “As far as
Shirley is concerned, Linda has made her
bed – with Stuart – so she can lie on it with
him! With her family against her, Linda is
left with no choice but to stay with Stuart
for the night. How has it come to this?”
Fuming Linda returns to the Vic the
following morning, determined to get her
home back. And the fight gets dirtier when
she phones the police to report Shirley!
“The cops turn up and tell Shirley that she
can’t throw Linda out,” shrieks our sneak.
“Well, you can imagine how Shirley reacts
to that! At this rate, the entire Carter family
will be joining Mick behind bars – and
wicked Stuart will have truly won…”

him once more to let her see her
children. Her anguish soon turns to
anger, however, when she realises
how Alfie has lied to her…
Later, distraught Kat skives off
from her cleaning shift at the Vic,
and instead helps herself to some
booze – only to be caught redhanded by Linda! Astonishingly,
rather than sacking her corrupt
cleaner, Linda takes pity on Kat, and
following a heart-to-heart, asks her
to provide some help behind the bar.
Witnessing the exchange, Stuart
quietly seethes, and later charms
Dot into giving him the low-down
on Kat. What is the villain planning,
and why has he developed this
very sudden interest in Kat?

ROBERT AND NICOLA TEAM

Robert and Nicola manage

she soon feels uneasy

A

partnership
is formed in
the village this
week, as Robert
ropes Nicola into a dodgy
plot to claw back his stake
in the haulage firm.
Having lost his share of
the business to conniving
Joe, Robert wants to turn the
tables now the former lord of
the manor is no more – and
persuades reluctant Nicola to
help him. But as they set about

conning Graham into signing
the important papers, is Nicola
ready to see the plan through?
“Nicola likes Robert’s
idea initially,” admits Nicola
Wheeler, who plays her.
“Jimmy has been sent off on
a week-long haulage trip
because Graham has made a
mistake with an order. She’s
stuck with a load of sick kids in
the haulage office, but makes
Robert look after them while
she’s sorting stuff out. They
end up chatting about the

expense involved in bringing
up children, and that’s what
gets Robert thinking that he
needs to get
back in on the
business…”
With no love
lost between
Nicola and the
Home Farm
contingent,
she’s keen
on the idea of Kim Tate
incarcerated and her
henchman Graham losing

control of the haulage company
– well, to begin with, anyway…
“Nicola does appreciate the
prospect of
Kim and
Graham no
longer owning
half of her
husband
Jimmy’s
business,”
explains
Nicola. “And she and Robert
do make rather a good pair,
since they’re both quite

“Nicola likes

ruthless!”

NO LADY OF
THE MANOR
While Nicola and Robert shared a saucy encounter
back in 2002, star Nicola insists their reunion is
strictly business, and that her alter ego is embracing
domestic bliss with hapless husband Jimmy…
“Things are good between them,” claims Nicola.
“While she’s realised just how important he is,
their lives could be much better with
a couple more million quid!
“Nicola’s not at all interested
in moving into Home Farm
or anything like that, though,”
adds the actress. “She’s
quite happy with her smaller
kingdom for now!”

“Nicola knows what
Graham’s capable of, and
that he’s a dangerous man,”
teases Nicola. “And the only
reason she and Robert have
this opportunity is because
he’s so drunk. Robert’s very
blasé about the whole thing,
and neither of them are
worried about Kim, because
she’s in prison now.

ruthless! Usually, if any plan
serves them for the greater
good, then they’ll be in there
and doing it. And they won’t
have any concerns about who
they hurt in the process.”
Wasting no time, the
cunning pair draw up the
relevant contracts and deliver
them to Home Farm personally
– where they find inebriated
Graham passed out on the sofa.
“They wake him up and
tell him that his signature is
needed for something to get

through,” reveals Nicola.
“They claim that Robert’s
signature isn’t enough as
he no longer has a stake in
the firm. And Graham, in his
drunkenness, is more than
willing to put pen to paper.”
It seems the two may have
done enough in order to
get their wicked way – until
Nicola starts to feel differently.
Is she about to be struck by
a very rare dose of guilty
conscience, and leave her
cohort Robert high and dry?

“But there’s then a moral
issue for Nicola – is she willing

T

here’s horror for
Michelle this week,
as son Ali hits rock

Then he goes out, gets blind

“Ali is out of control, and

of antidepressants and booze
have made Ali even crazier,
and it falls to Robert and
Michelle to step in to break
the boys up. It’s horrendous

“It’s been really nice, it’s my therapy. I’ve surfed for

I spend a lot of time in Cornwall, which I love.”
James will also have the chance to catch some
waves in the sunshine, as he’s going Down Under.
“I’m off to Australia for my cousin’s wedding,”
he reveals. “I’ve got two-and-a-half weeks out
there, and I can’t wait. I have to get back for work,

Whispers from

new boss Iain MacLeod is
already making plans for
the stunt, with the crew
recently spotted taking
delivery of the doomed

studios in Manchester…
“Iain was the mastermind behind
Emmerdale’s spectacular Hotten

– so it’s exciting that he has some
blockbuster scenes lined up for the

let’s hope for Peter and Simon’s sake

Will this canal

Following Simon’s announcement that
he hopes to join the Navy just as his father
did, the lad’s dreams risk going up in
smoke. Reports claim that Simon will be
trapped on board a boat after it
catches fire, prompting heroic
Peter to try to rescue him.
Will the Barlows escape
with their lives?
Corrie bosses are
keeping tight-lipped
over the storyline, as
it’s a plot that’s still
a way off from hitting
our screens. Inside Soap
also understands that there
were several inaccuracies
when the story was first
reported in the tabloids – so
viewers had better stay tuned to

to become a mum!
Rumour has it that Robert
will become an anonymous
sperm donor for Kate and
Rana after his partner
Michelle admits that she
doesn’t want any more kids
– setting the stage for huge
drama if ’Chelle finds out!
However, even juicier
gossip suggests that Kate
will turn to Adam Barlow
and look to seduce the
sexy solicitor, after learning
that Rana isn’t as keen
to start a family…
“Kate’s out of her mind
with grief for her brother,
Aidan, and thinks she’s lost
Rana,” explains our Street
source. “She comes to her
senses before going

through with sleeping
with Adam – Kate’s gay
and loves Rana and
can’t believe that she
nearly let her grieffuelled obsession for a
baby almost lead her
into making the biggest
mistake of her life.”
Viewers will have to
wait and see whether
Kate and Rana can find
a compromise over
their differences to
starting a family – and
what that could mean in
the long-run for Robert.
However, Inside Soap
understands that there
is still every reason for
us to run out and buy a

So the big question
remains: will they be

THE DEVASTATED COUPLE
LOOK SET TO SPLIT UP…

Ever since baby Grace died,

Chas confides in Lydia, and
Marlon does his best to stand

Chas cold, and she loses it.
“What’s tragic is that Paddy

Paddy’s approach is to show

Hi honey,
I’m home!
PHIL RETURNS TO WALFORD
– JUST AS SHARON AND
KEANU FALL INTO BED…

T

he Mitchell house
will be the scene
of some explosive
drama this week,
when patriarch
Phil walks through the front

Sharon is busy getting jiggy
upstairs with her secret
teenage lover, Keanu!
Phil hopes to surprise
his ‘devoted’ wife after an
extended trip to Spain – but
it’ll be the Walford hard man

“Phil is in

“The scene that greets him

The irony of Phil’s ill-timed
homecoming is that Sharon
and Keanu had actually made
a pact to keep their distance
from one another. However,
when she happens to witness
an exchange between Keanu
and Louise – who is asking the

but feel a twinge of jealousy.

It soon transpires that
Sharon is craving the attention

him for lunch. At this point
the confused fella doesn’t

after Jean dares to innocently

With that, Sharon lays her

interview

“I shouldn’t really say
I’ve enjoyed being in
prison – but I have!”
As Sally faces trial,
trial Corriee actress Sally Dynevor
admits that being banged up isn’t all that bad…
CORONATION STREET | ITV FRIDAY
he’s languished behind
bars for weeks, but Sally
Metcalfe will finally get
the chance to defend
herself properly this week,
as the case reaches court.
There are lots of twists
and turns ahead, with con man Duncan
working overtime to make sure Sally
takes the rap. Although plenty of people
might like snobby Sally to get knocked
down a peg or two, the brutal reality of
her position will be laid bare, and it’ll
take a hard heart to feel nothing for
her predicament. For Corrie star Sally
Dynevor, it’s been a fascinating chapter

Standing in the dock of the court:
Watching her freedom roll away
is torture for innocent Sal

in her character’s story – and has
certainly given her pause for thought…
“It’s been harrowing to film –
because everything’s falling apart for
Sally and she might even have to sell
her house!” she explains, as she joins
us for a chat about her alter ego’s big
year. “It’s sad and awful, and it made
me think about people who are in
this position in real life. It can happen
through no fault of their own, just
through naivety or something terrible.
There must be loads of people out
there who have gotten themselves
into situations that they really didn’t
want to be in, just like Sally.”

As the trial kicks off, it will hinge on
Sally’s ability to prove that Duncan is
a liar and a crook. That’s easier said
than done when he’s stitched her up
so well, and after Duncan takes the
stand and lies through his teeth about
their ‘romance’, her heart sinks.
“Everything Duncan says is a lie!”
states Sally. “It’s at this moment that
Sally realises how bad her situation
is looking. He makes this passionate
speech about how he hadn’t had an
affair with another woman before Sally,
and brings up her kiss with Kevin on
the night before she married Tim. Now,
Sally fears that she might be going to
prison, and she’s also worried that Tim
is going to believe she had an affair.”
She has every right to worry,
because Tim does doubt her, and
he’s been getting far too close
to smitten sister-in-law Gina.
Although her character’s marriage
is at stake, Sally tells us that the
chance to work with Connie
Hyde (Gina), Joe Duttine (Tim)
and Brooke Vincent (Sophie)
in the jail visiting room scenes
has been great fun.
“I love playing the prison
scenes because it feels as
if I’m in a different show!”
she enthuses. “It’s a nice
space because I get
to work with just

In a binder: Sally’s problems may

my family and then brand-new people
– like the prisoners and all the officers
too. It’s been very interesting for me,
and I’ve quite liked it. I know that
I shouldn’t really say I’ve enjoyed
being in prison, but I have!”
Another benefit of Sally’s shocking
incarceration is that it’s given the
actress a lighter filming schedule for
a while – so much so that she’s taken
up a new hobby to pass the time!
CONTINUED OVER ↘

lnsideSoap 39

FROM PREVIOUS PAGE↘
“It’s great because I go in and do two
full days of filming on the prison set,
and then I am off for the rest of the
week – I’m loving it!” she laughs. “It’s
funny because Sally started off doing
yoga in prison, so I thought, ‘Right,
I’ll go and do yoga’. Now I’ve joined
a hot yoga class, and I’m addicted!
I go there almost every day, and it’s
given me a whole new lease of life.”
Sadly, for the fictional Sally, her life
has never been worse, but could there
be a light at the end of the tunnel? Sally
realises that the night Duncan has told
the court that she was with him in a
hotel, she was actually visiting little
Jack in hospital. All she needs is the
CCTV footage to prove she was there
to show Duncan to be a liar.
But it’s going to take time – and
that’s something Sally doesn’t have.
So in order to postpone the trial, she
engineers it so she ends up in hospital!
Her choice to deliberately get injured
leaves Gina and Tim horrified, and
it’s certainly a very different Sally to
the one viewers know and love.
“This all comes when Sophie reminds
her that she’s done everything by the
book and it’s not getting her anywhere,”
muses Sally. “Only taking matters
into her own hands is going to help,
otherwise she could face being locked
up for the rest of her life. I think that’s
the moment it dawns on her how
important it is to delay the trial.”

Sally’s decision to take an enormous
risk is going to change her life in one
way or another. But we wonder – are
viewers behind her, or does anyone
want to see Sally do a long stretch?
“In the supermarket, viewers come
up to me and say, ‘OMG, I can’t bear
Sally being in prison, it’s awful!’” she
grins. “My daughter Hattie, who is just
14, told me, ‘I can’t watch it, I don’t
like you being in jail.’ There is the
odd one that’s really pleased she’s in
prison because Sally is so annoying
all the time. But most people want
to know when she’s getting out!”

ON JOINING THE
CAST OF CASUALTY…

Shakilled: Carmel’s
son was a victim
of knife crime

Mart
ise appears
to have absolutely no time for
the student nurse’s shena
anigans

Can you tell us a bit about
your character, Marty?
He’s a student nurse on his final
placement at university, which
he’s doing at Holby. He has a lot
of energy and enthusiasm – he’s
really keen to do a good job and
impress people. But he can be
quite sarcastic and witty, and a
bit intense at times, so he might
clash with a few people…

There’s another new nurse
starting this week – Jade.
How does Marty get on with her?
They don’t get off to the best start.
That’s when you see his competitive
side come out, when
he’s put in certain
situations with Jade.
They’re both keen to
do well and one-up
each other, so as a
result, they do silly
things that student
nurses probably
shouldn’t do.

Yeah, I think that’s a really interesting
and fun relationship, which could turn
into something nice. Marty really loves
Connie’s energy – she’s a goddess to him!
Her personality is everything he likes,
and I think sometimes he might forget
that she’s actually his boss, not his friend.

Who have you made friends
with in the Casualty cast?
Everyone here is so nice. But Gabriella
Leon [who plays Jade] started at the exact
same time as me, which was great.
I imagine it could be quite daunting
starting completely alone, whereas all
our stuff at the beginning was together,
so it was very good to have her there.

Marty loves
Connie’s
energy –
she’s like a
goddess!

What else can we expect from
Marty in the coming weeks?
I think his energy might get him into
some sticky situations with people like
Louise and Robyn, who he’s working
closely with. Louise is his superior, and
I think you’ll see her coming down hard
on Marty and Jade when they’ve done
something wrong or inappropriate.

There’s a great scene this week
when Marty claps eyes on Connie’s
shoes and decides she’s “fabulous”!
Might we see more between them?

What do your pals at
EastEnders make of
you being on Casualty?

I definitely think they
miss me! But I probably
see them more now than
I did when I was there. Tilly
and Jasmine [Armfield,
aka Bex] are my best
friends in real life, and I see them most
weekends. I’m in Cardiff five days a
week working, but I still have my flat
in London, so I go home all the time.

And you saw your EastEnders pals
at the Inside Soap Awards recently…
That was amazing, such a brilliant
night. Your awards are always fun –
everybody lets their hair down and
celebrates the work they’ve done. I had
to drive back to Cardiff at 11pm, as
I had work the next day, so it went fast.
But it was the best fast night ever!

RACHEL ADEDEJI IS OVER THE MOON
TO BE BACK ON THE HOLLYOAKS SET…

“Lisa’s the bravest
member of the family
– she’s not scared”
I

’ve missed Lisa’s outfits
– I was hoping I could
still get away with wearing
those hot pants!” laughs
Rachel Adedeji, aka Lisa
Loveday, as we talk to her
about returning to Hollyoaks following her
break from the show while on maternity
leave. “My daughter, Lillian, is nearly 10
months now. She’s a little madam, but
I couldn’t ask for a better best mate!”
Rachel’s all smiles as she reveals that
her little girl and Jen Metcalfe’s (Mercedes)
son, Daye, get along really well – and she
tells us how much the cast of Hollyoaks
wanted to meet her new arrival when she
was born back in December last year.
“I brought Lillian into work a few
times,” she grins. “You think you’ll pop in
for five minutes, and you end up on a twohour trip around the building, because
everyone wants to hold your baby!”

And despite her screen clan being
full of turmoil, Rachel shares just how
close she is to her Loveday cast mates.
“They were all fantastic – I couldn’t
get away from them even if I tried!”
she beams. “They were on
my doorstep 24/7. It was
so nice because I’m based
in Liverpool, and this isn’t
my home, so the Lovedays
are the next best thing to
actual relatives for me.”
Rachel’s alter ego Lisa
recently made a return
to Hollyoaks village amid
yet more family trauma,
having left last year when her secret
affair with her boyfriend’s father, Mac,
was revealed. Following that, Simone
kindly bought Lisa a ticket to Thailand,
and sent her packing so that she could
escape the drama of Chester.

“Lisa’s back!” exclaims Rachel.
“Someone booked her a plane ticket
home, and she thanks her family for
sorting it out – although it wasn’t them!
Lisa, being the naughty lady she is, is
aware who really bought
the ticket, but is playing
games with them too.
I can’t say who, but there’s
a mysterious person Lisa
has got involved with.”
We can’t help but
wonder if this person has
anything to do with Liam,
who is still investigating
the WAGs. Or maybe it’s
the mystery fella that Lisa left back in
Thailand? Either way, she’s missed a lot,
including her mum’s involvement with
the murder of evil Glenn Donovan – but
Rachel assures us it won’t be long until
Lisa has caught up with their antics.

Dramaqueen
Debbie’s life has never been easy, but
Charley Webb wouldn’t change it…
Absolutely not – she has no
suspicions at all. She thinks
that Joe has literally just
left. She reckons Cain is
acting a bit weird, but she
doesn’t realise how much
he’s panicking. She thinks
he’s trying to help her.

“Her mum and brother bring her up to

actress. “And if Lisa finds out about her
dad and her Auntie Martine being secretly
married, she won’t be pleased. She was
there when her family went through so
much, and that’s another bombshell that
she’ll find out about at some point!”
Rachel’s bagged herself a lot of explosive
storylines in the past – even before she
was on screen, Lisa was the Lovedays’
long-lost daughter. Then came the affair
with Mac and the death of her boyfriend,
Nathan. So we ask Rachel what’s in store
for her alter ego in the coming weeks.
“Expect drama, as there’s always drama
with Lisa!” she teases. “And expect the
sassiness to return. She has been through
a lot, though, so there’s vulnerability too.
People forget she has a lot of baggage, and
I think that will soon start to unravel…”

Dingle was being interrogated

Debbie still has no idea he’s

believes he killed him. Add to
the mix the chance that Debbie
might be pregnant with Joe’s
child, and it’s a wonder she’s
not gone right off the rails
already! But Charley Webb,
who plays Debbie, is cool,
calm and collected as we
grab her for a catch-up…

Hello, Charley! The

Yep – it’s one thing

just trying to focus
on Sarah now, and
while she’s still

the fact that Joe
has disappeared,
she’s making the
effort to get on

a Dingle something
that you treasure?
Oh, yeah. If I know I have scenes
with Jeff [Hordley, aka Cain] and
Emma [Atkins, who plays Charity],
I know it’s going to be easy, even if
it’s really emotional – just because
we are so in-tune and very close.

If you could play another Dales
character, who would you choose?
It would be somebody like Laurel,
as she’s so different from Debbie.
Would I like to have Bob Hope on
my arm? Well, Laurel and Bob have
just split up – but yeah! Everyone

LOUISA

ANSWER!

Emmerdale’s Maya Stepney

...faces your
questions!

W

hile there’s still much to learn about
Dales newbie Maya, lovely Louisa is
an open book in comparison, as she
happily tackles your questions…

“What has been the standout
moment of your Emmerdale
experience so far?”
I think that has to be when I first
arrived for filming in the Emmerdale
village. You arrive to the
most amazing countryside,
and for some reason
every time I’ve filmed
there the weather has
been pretty good – really
bright sunshine, open
countryside and animals

bouncing around.
I remember getting there
and thinking, ‘Yes, this
is my new place of work’.
It’s pretty spectacular.

“Did you

actress?”

On track: Louisa
starred in play

I’ve met you”! So

Curl power: Louisa’s

and excruciating mo
oment.
You don’t expect it to h
happen
in those kinds of situations!

“Did you always want
to become an actress
while growing up?”

I did actually. I come from
a family of creatives, so it
was always something that
I loved and wanted to do.
I went through a stage of
wanting to be a journalist
and a doctor, but I always
came back to acting. I played Dandy
Dan in Bugsy Malone once, when I was
at my all-girls school, and I remember
drawing on a moustache. I loved that!

“Where is the oddest place you’ve
ever been recognised in public?”
I’m not sure whether to give this
answer, but there was a situation

“Is your hair curly in real liffe, or
is it styled that way for May
ya?”
It is naturally that curly. The m
make-up
department is so lovely and fan
ntastic –
they neaten up a lot of waywarrd hair!

“Are all the drinks and nibb
bles
in David’s shop real?”
Yes – and they are delicious! So
ometimes
we’ll be filming at 7 o’clock in the
morning, and there might be ssome
slightly ripe salami sitting on tthe
counter with a strong smell! But we
do pinch an olive or two if we can!

“If Maya could make a goo
od friend
in the village, which character would
you love to see her chum up
p with?”

Screen star: ITV drama
Island At War is among
Louisa’s acting credits

I would love to see her chum up with
Faith! I think we’d have a great laugh.
I love Sally Dexter [who plays her],
and I love Faith as a character. I’ve
not worked with her so much, but
we share a dressing room – so
we spend a lot of off-screen
time hanging out.

He manages to injure
himself a lot! We’ve had
to rewrite several scenes
due to broken thumbs, feet
and lots of things like that.
He’s accident-prone, so I’m
always slightly aware of the bits
of him that I can’t bash too hard!

“I read that you played the viola
when you were younger. Do you
still play the instrument?”
Yes, I do! I have one at home,
so when we can, my

I hope so! I have
to say that I have
been inspired by many

est
from Leigh-on-Sea

my old drama school – and having
been taught by some amazing people
in my life, I would hope to hold on
to what they have all taught me and
be able to do it myself.

“What do you think Maya
will end up making of her
estranged husband Dr Cavanagh
copping of with Bernice?”
I reckon that she will probably be
very pleased to have him out of her
life, to be honest! She’s moved on,
so I think she’ll be delighted that
he is no longer in the picture.
